The first leading lady of British horror, and Hammer's most prolific female star, Barbara Shelley's filmography actually started in Italy. But frustrated with a string of minor roles, Shelley returned to England. Although known as a scream queen, Barbara always approached her characters with conviction and considerable grace; in fact, her most famous scream - in DRACULA PRINCE OF DARKNESS - was actually dubbed by co-star Suzan Farmer.
