With her blonde hair, cream complexion and blue eyes, Yorkshire-born Veronica Carlson became one of Hammer's best loved actresses. Spotted by James Carreras in a bikini shot from The Daily Mirror, Carlson was billed as the studio's "new star discovery" and "Dracula's most beautiful victim" in the trailer for her Hammer debut DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE. Often the naive innocent, Versonica's most accomplished performance was as doomed Anna Spengler in FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED, where her spirit is slowly and painfully crushed by Peter Cushing's ruthless Baron. From the mid-70s Carlson relocated to the United States with her family, and became a professional painter.
